Tom Stafford explains that “when you’re writing, you’re trying to convey meaning. It’s a very high-level task”. Your brain focuses on the bigger picture, creating a narrative with meaning and structure. Therefore, when you review your work you are naturally focusing on your piece of work as a whole and the message that you wish to convey, rather than the small details.

It may seem low on the list of priorities but those small errors that you miss can interrupt or even remove the reader from the message you are trying to convey – small speed bumps in your writing that interrupt the reader’s journey.
